This is Step 2 of a two-step process, begun in the "Collecting Physical Machine Metrics" section of the OpenStack documentation in the Target Configuration Guide. Please perform the first step there before attempting this step.

In order to continue the process of enabling all physical machine metric collection:

    • Download the attached file
    • Edit the three following fields in the file with the appropriate information:

      syslocation <YourLocationName>

      syscontact <ContactName> <ContactEmailID>

      disk /var/lib/nova/instances 15%

The disk should be '/' if the VMs are on local storage or '/var/lib/nova/instances' if the VMs are on shared storage.

    • Upload the file to /etc/snmp.
    • Enable and start the SNMP service via the following commands:

      systemctl enable snmpd.service

      systemctl start snmpd.service

After performing these steps, all physical machine metrics will be reported to Turbonomic.
