If I go into workloads and select an entire cluster highlight the entire grid of computers and click see related action Items, select all and click execute selected will I be prompted to schedule a time for the reboots that are necessary?
Any actions that require rebooting the VM (for example, memory or CPU rightsizing) will shut down the VM when you accept the action, then edit the settings on the VM, then power the VM back on.
If you want, you can create an Action Restriction Window so that Resize actions on a group of VMs (including VMs by Cluster) will automatically be accepted during certain time intervals.
You can create windows that only run once (for example, only automate resize actions on March 28th from 2am to 4am), or you can create recurring policies (for example, automate resize actions every Saturday and Sunday from 2am to 4am)
If there are two different groups that contain the same VM, however, keep in mind that the most conservative action mode will win out. If you have a group of VMs where Resize actions are set to Recommend mode, then even if you enable automation on a separate group, this VM will never resize itself.
If the VM is running Windows 2008 R2, with version vmx-09 and you have Memory/CPU hotplug enabled, then for any recommendations to increase cpu or memory can be done instantly without it rebooting the server. If it suggests to remove a cpu or memory, it will need to reboot.
