Does anyone know how to create a drive space usage report for a particular drive on a server? I just want to see the trend for data storage over a time period to plan for expansion.
One way in which you can quickly see the history of a particular drive is within the resources panel. You can open the particular server in question by searching in the upper right hand corner. Once the view for the particular server is open maximize the resources panel.
This will not show data over the course of two data points, but rather one point in time. However you can slide the bottom slider back and forth to manually see how that drive grows and shrinks over time.
If you are looking for something else you can follow and then DM me -- kevinlamb. Thanks.
I've used this yesterday in a pinch to get some estimated usage going back up to two months, the only problem is for a quick slope calc, you either have only two data points (today and two months ago), or you have to manually put each of the data points into a spreadsheet and graph.
But thanks.. You reminded me of the slider
This report may be of use to you as well.
Also, if the purpose is for capacity planning, you could simulate storage growth in our Plan tab as well.
thanks Ryan, I'll give it a try.
Thanks for the report SQL. the only issue is that I need it to be by month over the span of a year:
provide us with information to analyze and predict driveusage trends for each of the drives related to all of our VMs.
The report should supply us the following data:
ServerDriveSize (GB)Used (GB)Used %Avg. ∆/MoMax. ∆/MoMin. ∆/MoTo TrigTo Full
And allow us to easily plot a given drive’s usage over a minimum of 12 months usage:
Last, you could create a "Custom Dashboard" and use two relevant "widgets" : "Entity Ressources" and "Entity Trend"
You could then either use the temporal sliders located on each of these information screens or you could also:
- Save that dashboard
- Once saved use the "Save as a report" function which will allow you to generate it periodically and even send it automatically by email using the "Report" tab.
Hope this help.
