I need to find a way, some automated way, to have a job backup operations manager and have it copy the backup file to a remote location on a monthly basis. What are my options or does anyone have any ideas or directions they can point me to?
There is a backup option available via the update.html page which calls a script to backup the instance it is located in /srv/tomcat/script/appliance/vmtbackup.sh it can be called with a -o full or -o config for a full or configuration only backup
You could schedule this script via a cron job to run at the frequency you need, it creates a zip file in /tmp the script give you the details. You can then have it copied to the location you want for retention.
In the same directory is a vmtrestore.sh which can be used to restore the backup to a different instance
Hope this is helpful
The update.html page can be accessed by changing the URL to http://IP_address/update.html. See screendshot below for an example.
For an example of how to use the backup script, see here - Update OpsMan OS and migrate my existing OpsMan data, config, and reports to a new instance
