I see that there is a provision in the VMTurbo GUI to edit the outbound email template.
Is there a similar way to edit the outbound SNMP trap template?
I opened a case with support to try to get an answer to this question.
It seems that there is an XML file that possibly can be edited, to adjust the default behavior.
The way to read this XML is that we are going to send a trap, with OID18.104.22.168.4.1.37004.0.1, and it will have a few varbinds. Each varbind will havean OID of itself and is populated according to the XML. For example, thevarbind 22.214.171.124.4.1.37004.1.2.3 will carry the notification "event"field. To modify this behavior is to specify different OIDs for different fields. Forexample, you can send the 'event' field but with a different OID, you can usethis OID for a different filed, or change both. We don't support addinghard-coded text to the trap. The fields can only be populated with values fromobjects in our repository.
For my use case (SiteScope monitoring) I did not end up going that route, as I was able to create a regex statement that extracts the 4 relevant fields from the SNMP trap message.
I'm sure that someone with more regex experience could clean up this statement, if so that would be much appreciated.
