I have had an alert on my dash telling me to check the hypervisor for about a week now. It recommends rebooting the vhost and I have done so and still nothing. What exactly is horked up??
I have had the same message several times. We have multiple Turbo instances in our environment seeing the same hosts and every time the ESXi host has performed fine and one of the other Turbo instances have performance data from the host and no error message.
I have "solved" it by rebooting the Turbo instance with the error.
This isn't optimal of course, so perhaps you can try to do a rediscover of the vCenter first, Admin->Target Configuration->Select vCenter and do a rediscover
This usually happens when the host can't be contacted by vCenter. does the host show up in the vCenter console?
Sure does, its running and operational.
Adding to what Bunmi said - this can happen when Turbonomic is seeing the host in the vCenter inventory but is not receiving any performance data from vCenter (meaning vCenter is not receiving any information from the hypervisor). So this type of notification is alerting you to a vCenter/hypervisor issue.
In vCenter, go to the host that Turbonomic is reporting to "Check Hypervisor" and view the Performance tab. Are you seeing any statistics there? I suspect not.
Usually this can be resolved by restarting the management agents on the hosts. However, seeing that you have rebooted the hosts multiple times it could be a different problem.
In the past, I've resolved this issue by SSHing into the esx host and running the following commands to restart the managemnt agents:
Hope this helps!
I did this and rebooted the vhost and still nothing on the dash.
I had to reboot the appliance, but it worked. Wish there was a better method to resolve this, but alright.
