Host core count and speed

I recently ran into an interesting question yesterday.  It is understood that when Turbonomic delivers decisions it examines underlying core capacity and speed, but a customer reached out asking if Turbonomic exposed this information in the UI.  It is a little bit of a hidden gem, but you can find this information on the inventory tab.  If you expand a cluster of hosts, each host has a drop-down window with a folder titled “ComposedOf.”

In this folder, it will display the number of cores!  Note that if your hosts are hyperthreaded the number of procs will be doubled.  In the example above, the host “hpdl-prod1” has 4 PROC’s listed at the bottom.  You can click on a PROC to display information on the clock rate of the core. It will look something like the screenshot below.  The capacity row at the bottom shows the individual core's speed in MHz.

I was curious if anyone else has tried this or had similar questions around Host core counts and capacity.
